16 NYC Pies Worthy of Twin Peaks Quotes
Pie, believe it or not, can be consumed any day of the year. Although it’s convenient to have an excuse for pie it doesn’t need to be a holiday or Pi Day. It can simply be a nice day outside and you happen to have a craving for a bakery treat. We’ve created this list of some of the best sweet and fruit pies in the city. Seasonality aside, if these NYC pies are available they should go directly into your mouth.
Of course, a list of good pies is never complete. We’d love to hear what we’ve missed and what should be added to this list.
Table of Contents
1. Four & Twenty Blackbirds :: Salty Honey Pie
439 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn
Join us for pie! Brooklyn is possibly the pie capital of the United States and Four & Twenty Blackbirds is one of the many bake shops helping the borough preserve the title. The pie of choice (among so many delicious options) is the Salty Honey Pie. The crust is buttery and flaky while the pie itself is a well-balanced combination of sweet and salty. It isn’t so sweet or filling that you’ll be afraid to come back for a second and third slice.
2. Petee’s Pie Company :: Chocolate Caramel Meringue
61 Delancy Street
I plan on writing an epic poem about this gorgeous pie. A newer pie on Petee’s pie roster is the Chocolate Caramel Meringue. This is the sort of pie that’ll have you wanting to say “what is even happening in my mouth?” Of course, you can’t actually say that because you keep putting more pie in your mouth.
3. Butter & Scotch :: S’Mores Pie
818 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn
Diane, if you ever get up this way that S’Mores Pie is worth a stop. Quick note: If you like cocktails and pie you’ll want to check out “explore” Butter & Scotch on Instagram. It’s pure cocktail and pie porn (with occasional flashes of neon). As for the pie of choice, we’re going with the S’Mores Pie. There are (surprisingly) many S’Mores Pies in NYC but few compare with this beauty of Callebaut chocolate ganache topped with toasted marshmallow and contained in a homemade graham cracker crust. Your face would like this in it.
4. Pie Corps :: Apple Crumb with Rosemary Caramel
77 Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn Pie. Whoever invented pie? Here was a great person. Say it with me: Apple Crumb with Rosemary Caramel. If I didn’t want to keep this list clean with only pie pictures I’d add the drooling Homer Simpson meme. This is Pie Corps signature pie and for good reason. The apple adds tart while the caramel brings in sweet and the rosemary subtly unifies the entire pie with a pleasant herbal note. After experiencing this version of an apple crumble it’s hard for a person to go back to the simpler times of apple and cinnamon.
5. The Blue Stove :: Pear Ginger Crisp
415 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn
Agent Cooper here might want to try a slice of that pie. Pears are often the ugly step-child of the fruit pie world. Bakers will often skip the pear for the easier to manage apple. Thankfully, The Blue Stove isn’t afraid of a challenge and as a result, Brooklyn has one of the best damn pear pies east of the Mississippi. The Pear-Ginger Crisp combines the sweet flavor of pears with a punch of ginger. The combination results in a fun mouth party. Bonus, this pie is vegan.
6. Pies ‘n’ Thighs :: Banana Cream Pie
166 S. 4th Street, Brooklyn They got a banana cream pie that’ll kill ya’. As tempting as it is, we’ll need to save the chicken and waffles for a future post. This is all about the front half of Pies ‘n’ Thighs. Over the years, many banana cream pies have come to the city but none has toppled the perfection of Pies ‘n’ Thighs. What makes this specific banana cream pie standout is the crust. The crust has a slight caramel flavor which combines with the banana and whipped cream to create a subdued impression of Bananas Foster.
7. Bubby’s : Sour Cherry Pie
120 Hudson Street | 73 Gansevoort Street
This cherry pie is a miracle. A good pie is all about balance and that’s the reason this sour cherry pie from Bubby’s consistently comes out on top. Yes, you have the lip-puckering flavor of the Michigan sour cherries, but those are tempered with the taste of almond and tapioca. Plus, that flaky crust is an absolute delight.
8. Little Pie Company :: Sour Cream Apple Walnut
424 W. 43rd Street Hot damn, that pie is good! Yep, another apple pie on the list. Little Pie’s Sour Cream Walnut is an incredibly graceful slice of pie. The sweetness of the apple is enhanced by the sharp taste of the sour cream. And, honestly, the walnut streusel have you wanting to lick the plate. Don’t worry, no one will judge you.
9. Momofuku Milk Bar :: Crack Pie
Multiple Locations
I want my own piece of crack pie. In fact, I want two pieces of crack pie. Crack pie and coffee. In fact, I want 16 cups of coffee. I’m guessing everyone in New York City has tried Momofuku Milk Bar’s crack pie by now, but this wouldn’t be a proper pie list without including it. If you haven’t tried it the reason why you should is in the name.
10. Two Little Red Hens Bakery :: Chocolate Pecan Pie
1652 Second Avenue This must be where pies go when they die. Two Little Red Hens Bakery could land on many lists including NYC cupcakes and NYC cheesecake (coming soon!). However, don’t let the cupcakes and cheesecakes overshadow their amazing pies. On top of the Two Little Red Hen pie list is the Chocolate Pecan Pie. This is one of the toughest pies on this list to score as it often sells out shortly after the store opens.
11. Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies
185 Van Dyke Street, Brooklyn
In Twin Peaks, we specialize in Cherry Pie and Huckleberry Pie. At Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies, they specialize in Key Lime Pies. There’s a good reason Steve’s can specialize in only key lime pies, they’re possibly the best key lime pies north of the Florida keys.
Bonus Pie (because I’m out of Twin Peaks pie quotes)!
Here are four additional places to score pie in NYC:

14. Yura on Madison: 1296 Madison Avenue, Coconut Custard Pie is waiting.
15. Salvation Burger: 230 E. 51st Street, you want the Fried Apple Pie.
16. Daly Pies: 665 Vanderbilt Ave., Brooklyn, @ohboyaitszoya on Twitter recommends the Case of the Mondays (pictured below). Thanks, Zoya!
